I am a very new and inexperienced computer guy, lets just say they didnt have computers in schools and the 70s were fun as hell. I am running a msi 11sc thin 693 laptop and I feel that i shouldnt have many folders being locked out. And spending more time trying to fix, instead of doing what i want to do. So once again is this normal and does it get easier?

  • Its very difficult to tell what you are describing. yes, in linux most directories outside of /home are restricted for non-admin users (all folders in / are supposed to be owned by root:root, and limit write access), and that is by design. that said, its usually not a big problem for people to use su or sudo. so we need you to provide more detail about your question.
