"UEFI laptop got hosed, how do I fix?"

I have a UEFI laptop, which got hosed. The Windows' C: drive got changed so it no longer boots. It tries to find C:\Windows (which is currently C:\Windows_, and things like Program Files are "Program Files_", note all the important folders/paths got changed to end with a single '_'. how do I fix this? please suggest a good place to ask if SU is not a good fit, I just keep being frustrated.

  • what kind of details? I just want to be able to fix my boot process (rename the hard drive path from \windows_ back to Windows, etc? so that boot process can find what it needs to boot. currently, it just shows the windows screen and refuses to go further. it won't accept my pin or password (c:\users also got changedv to \users_, and so on)

  • We need details regarding what led up to it being "hosed", the processes that caused it to be "hosed", the research you've done so far (repairing Windows is a VERY frequently asked question on this site, there is bound to be info already here that you should review and try) and what you've tried, just to begin with. All this will give us information that will help us understand what needs to be done to repair this. Commented yesterday
