I am trying to hide Wireless network connection from Windows 11 taskbar and notifications area icons.

enter image description here

I have tried to hide network connection from registry:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

The attribute HideSCANetwork set to 1. But it's not working in Windows 11.

If you know any solution to hide this icon using registry, please suggest it to me, your any help will be really appreciated.

As far a I can see, this is not natively possible. And since the icon has been there for some decades, is there really a defensible need?

  • Also remember the icon for wired is the same icon as for wireless. So NO icon means you cannot determine what is going on.

  • On Windows 10, ShutUp10, oo-software.com/en/shutup10, can disable the icon, but I don't know if that works on 11. However, it's easy to test, as no installation is required. BTW, that icon is considered a privacy issue by some, according to O&O, since it pings a Microsoft server to check the connection, and there is concern that MS might keep track of who is online.
